LOCAL INTEREST: THE LADY CAROLINE
After just over 30 years of service on the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie, and at 42 years of age, the popular Nautica Queen cruise ship is finally retiring. Jacobs Entertainment Inc. obtained its replacement, the Lady Caroline, on May 8th, and the ship began cruises in June. The brand-new cruise ship is 120 ft. long and has 15,000 sq. ft. of space with 4 decks. You can also spend some time at one of the boats 4 bars including on the open-air sky deck. The Lady Caroline features lunch, brunch, dinner, and special holiday cruises. They set sail 7 days a week, 2 times a day: once for lunch and once for dinner. Lunch cruises are 2 hours and begin daily at 12 noon. Dinner cruises are 2 and a half hours long during the week, beginning at 7PM, and 3 hours long on the weekends, beginning at 7:30PM. MONTHLY FEATURE: THE BAKE SHOP & CAFÉ/ THE ROAMING BISCUIT
In Cleveland's Goodrich-Kirtland Park neighborhood (also known as Asia Town), not far from Downtown, you will find a bustling business district converted from an old factory. Tyler Village, named after the historic factory's owner, is a 1 million sq. ft. mixed use complex. Within this merchant zone you will find a plethora of locally owned businesses including a gem called The Bake Shop & Café. It is owned by local restaurateur, Shawnda Moye, and while she offers an excellent menu of baked goods and sandwiches, she also makes some exceptional biscuits. They are so popular, in fact, that she decided to open a satellite operation in the Hingetown neighborhood on Cleveland's near west side. The Roaming Biscuit, which just recently opened, is only operating on the weekends but is already very popular. Some favorite biscuit options are The O.G. (with bacon, egg, and cheese), and The Cinny (a cinnamon biscuit with an almond vanilla glaze). They also offer a daily special biscuit which rotates.
