About This Event
Join Assaf Gavron to explore the role of politics within contemporary Israeli fiction. Does life in such a politically charged environment influence the kind of fiction, and other art forms, created within it? What is the role of authors in such an environment? Are they expected to deal\
with political situations – possibly even have an obligation to do so? Or perhaps politics is a burden, a topic that they cannot escape from? Through a series of examples, from his own experiences, as well as those of his peers, Gavron shows how contemporary Israeli writers deal with these and other questions, both in their fiction and beyond it.\
This lecture is supported by the Herbert and Marianna Luxenberg Siegal College Israel Lecture Fund of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland and is offered in partnership with the Cleveland Israel Arts Connection of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland.
