About This Event
Martin Buber, one of the most influential modern Jewish philosophers, had a unique vision of how Judaism can repair the struggles of modern life. Modern societies offered improved life conditions and new opportunities, but did they also require Jews to leave their tradition behind? Were these societies more just, or did they hurt our relationships and cause sickness to the soul? In this class, we will explore Buber’s translations of Hasidic stories and interpretations of the Bible, to study his teachings about: Everyday Religion; Loving God and Loving Humanity; The Task of the Jewish People; What is Redemption and When Will it Come?
